The
Curse Of Festur Part 1 -
What’s
inside the Basement?
The Observer: Hey, I am back, hope you have time because
here’s the part where things get really big and interesting.
You: Yes please go on, I was wondering about it the whole
time, plus I wasn’t able to sleep. *in mind* I hope he doesn’t tone it down to
a bone-chilling story or something.
The Observer: I can hear your thoughts, and sorry, because
eventually the story goes in a bit horror tone.
You: Ah damn it, here we go again........
Abraham was still lost in his
thoughts when the youngest boy, Jimmy, who seemed about 21, exclaimed, “Hey,
we’ve got a call, some good old dude says he saw a ghost, in the basement, he
had an odd request however, he said it would require seven of us, I suppose his
name was Paul umm, Kennedy or something, our line’s very poor, I told you to
pay for it, Darrell!” Abraham sighed and said “That’s my father, he is a weirdo
sometimes, whenever he sees something big, he says it would require 7 people to
lift it, and it’s Kenneth you-” “Whoa, whoa, whoa, I would stop it right there,
but you can go ahead if you wanna get fired the first day chump. And you,
Jimmy, we aren’t really getting customers you know, and not everyone sees our
ads, they only run for around 2 blocks, if you ask anyone who the Ghost
smashers/Exterminators are, after runnin’ a mile straight west from the street,
they will say, ‘Get outta here, do those even exist!’ and you would return by
the time we already would’ve missed 3 clients because we would’ve expanded our
region of flyers and advanced the printed copy for those flyers by then.”,
responded Darrell. He continued “Now that we’ve finally got one client, let’s
get moving before he thinks otherwise, pack the stuff you think is necessary
and go remove the truck Vlad!” “Hey, did you even listen to a thing I was
saying, that’s Paul Kenneth, my father, and you think that I can just go out
there without any disguise just so that my father would recognize me right away!”
said Abraham. “Look man, it’s a job at the end of the day after all, and money
is money, even if it meant for me to rob the crap out of my sweet Grandma’s
house down the street.” Said Darrell “But I can’t just go in there like that!”,
said Abraham. “What’s the biggie deal mate? Ya behavin’ like ain’t nobody knows
that you work with us, or is it like you told them you were working in a puny
little sweet shop, did ya?” said a bulky and jacked up Aussie named Nathan
Spencer. “Well, that’s exactly the case, I told him that I worked in a grungy
ol’ sweet shop”, said Abraham. “Well, if that’s the case, I’ll toss you a spare
bandana I have, a wig and some goggles. Let’s make you a grumpy ol’ man.”
*dresses him up* “Will that work for ya?” asked Darrell. *Abraham looks in the
mirror* “Absolutely! Thanks”, said Abraham. “Seems legit enough” said Darrell.
(Man I don’t get this stuff about mortals, you know what I mean, he could’ve
just straight away said “Go without me” or just faked a reason like “Oh no, I
think I might have a migraine issue again, I will join you guys later, you go
without me”)
*Vlad removed their truck and they
set off to go to the house*
After reaching the house, Abraham
was stressed, the sweat was easily seen even from far away. Paul was just
waiting by the entrance when he saw them, he welcomed them and was looking at
Abraham continuously until they reached the door. Finally, Paul speaked out
“Hey!” The tension rose in Abraham’s mind, Darrell looked worried, but that’s
when Paul said “Finally someone my age working in a team like this, you guys
are so brave, how do you even manage to do this stuff, I wish Abraham was here
to look at y’all, he’d had left his job right away.” A sigh of relief was given
by everyone. “Well, I called 7 of you here because there is this big ghost and
had surprising powers, so I called in the ‘gang-smashers’ Hahahaha” Abraham
tried to mimic an old man and said “Are there any *intense cough* clues you
could find? We ourselves don’t have any ghost powers to read minds ya know”. To
which Paul replied, “The Basement” as if it was a major clue itself. They walked
down the stairs. “Is there an ancient heirloom to have a bad sense of humour?”,
asked Ben, a British. “Keep your Bo’ oh’ o’ wa’ er with you, Ben”, replied
Stuart, a Canadian. It was really dark in there, the lights had cracked out.
The staircase was really narrow for the seven of them to go through. Paul was
way ahead shouting “Walk faster, even my father would’ve walked faster than you
if he were alive.” “He must’ve been a P.E. teacher when he was young”, said
Jimmy. Abraham lost his cool. He yelled, “Can you ever shut that damn talking
machine of yours!” Paul said, “You kinda sound like my son when you’re angry
ha-ha” while letting out a smile. The team finally arrived in the basement.
Abraham was shocked to see what he found, he was never allowed in here and he
knew why. There were axes hanged on the wall, creepy dolls, old pictures and
weird paintings. Abraham said, “What happened in here?” Paul didn’t seem to
hear what he said. “Here, follow me for the last location I saw it”, said Paul. He opened another
door, but this door was very thick, it made a creepy sound while opening. They
walked through the weird room which was full of dust, but there was a chair,
not any ordinary chair but it was a throne, which seemed suspicious because it
didn’t have any dust over it. Also there was a creepy statue sitting over it,
as if it were waiting for someone. But suddenly Abraham remembered that there
was a round table, with exactly 7 chairs and 7 daggers, each dagger kept at the
chair in such position, that it formed a circle.
While the other crew members saw
and investigated the room place by place, Darrell was turning to ask Paul where
had he noticed the ghost in the last place but till then, Paul in a deep voice
greeted everyone, “Welcome aboard!” Everyone was shocked to hear this serious
tone for the first time, Abraham hadn’t heard this voice even if Paul was his
father, Jimmy wanted to run away but as soon as he stepped a foot, the door
banged and closed. Suddenly, the beautiful garden outside turned into a dried
and withered ground. All leaves started falling off the branches, and a huge
gust of wind let in some of the leaves through the window, all of a sudden the
windows closed, as if they were controlled by someone, Stuart and Ben were
confused why they were here and started shivering, while Vlad, Nathan and
Darrell stood as if nothing had happened. Abraham was about to faint but was
caught by Nathan. Paul let out a maniacal laugh and also a hysterical laughter.
Suddenly, everyone noticed the
writings written on the wall, Abraham read one of those,
“Suffering is always your fate,
If you read this it is already too
late,
Everything has a lock and a gate,
Figure this out or else Death will
await”
